Completed in three phases, a historic Cartersville bungalow was recently transformed for modern-day living by the Womack Custom Homes team. The project involved renovating the secondary bedrooms, adding on a stone porch and patio space to the rear and updating the owner’s suite and bath, as well as refinishing the hardwood floors and freshly painting the walls throughout the dining and living rooms.
As a historic renovation, the Womack team took care to preserve certain features throughout the home, such as stunning brick fireplaces, original recessed wall niches and double-hung plantation shutters. The first phase of renovations included updating two secondary bedrooms with modern features to accommodate overnight guests.
Visitors entering the first bedroom immediately direct their gaze upward to the dramatic ceiling with detailed sphere chandelier and geometric starburst wallpaper. The soft pink walls emphasize the pinks sprinkled throughout the room in the lounge chaise, throw pillows and comforter.
The room’s sweet femininity continues into the bathroom with soft touches of pink and an overall updated aesthetic. This guest bathroom now features mosaic-tile flooring, a tub/shower combination with sleek subway tile and contrasting gray grout lines and an L-shaped vanity with vintage-style vanity mirror and marble countertops.
The second guest bedroom is now prepped and ready for visiting grandkids with a fun baseball theme and double beds. Its updated bathroom boasts a walk-in shower with glass surround, as well as similar features of the first updated bathroom with mosaic-tile flooring, subway tile and spacious vanity with marble countertop.
The second phase of this historic renovation focused on building a thoughtful outdoor living space with flagstone patio area. With plenty of comfortable seating options, this rear addition expands the home’s entertaining space to the outdoors, a feature many historic homes lack.
Lastly, renovating the owner’s suite and bathroom completed this project. The updated owner’s suite is now a cozy retreat with vintage-style recessed wall niches on both bedsides, bright white walls and a spa-like bath with a sitting area and dual vanity featuring a makeup counter between the sinks. The remainder of the bathroom features diamond mosaic-tile flooring, a walk-in shower with glass entry and tile surround and a pedestal tub with vintage-style faucet and Kelly-green accent base.
