Locally owned and operated Womack Custom Homes recently completed a massive historic renovation on CFO Matt Womack’s personal home. First constructed in 1931, the English Tudor-style home in Cartersville got a major makeover to bring it into the 21st century.
The Womack team began by stripping the home down to its framing structure to repair the rot and implement modern mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Furthermore, the home also received a massive expansion with a new extended upper level.
Originally, this historic home offered 2,400 total square feet of living space with three bedrooms and two baths. The newly updated layout now features 4,200 square feet of thoughtful living space with four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and a new upper level off the rear, stretching the home’s complete footprint roughly 20 feet.
While the home now boasts an updated design with stylish elements, when it comes to historic renovations, it is important to maintain the home’s overall historic integrity. This home radiates vintage sophistication with a gold filigree color scheme and décor features throughout, in addition to detailed wainscoting, judges paneling, elegant fixtures and sophisticated fireplaces.
The parlor offers the perfect space for entertaining guests with detailed wainscoting and wall paneling, gleaming hardwood floors and a painted brick fireplace with elegant mantle accented by emerald, green velvet couches and complementary blue accents. Entertaining space options continue into the formal dining room with intricate judges paneling, a vintage-style chandelier and buffet table.
From there, the dining area leads into the expansive kitchen through the butler’s pantry with convenient wet bar. The gourmet kitchen underwent the most exciting transformation with plenty of cabinet space for storage and counterspace for prepping. The paneled refrigerator and dishwasher boast a seamless cabinet aesthetic while the spacious island features a farmhouse sink, built-in microwave and room for seating.
The breakfast area, adjacent to the kitchen, features built-in seating and exposed wood ceiling beams leading to the casual great room with plenty of plush seating surrounding the fireplace with wood moulding surround, an antique twisted wood chandelier and access to the geometrically detailed stair rail leading to the upper level.
Serving as the ultimate retreat, the luxurious owner’s suite features a sitting area, oversized walk-in closet with modern orb chandelier, built-in closet system and central island and a spa-like bath with geometric gold chandelier, paneled mirrors, a massive walk-in shower, freestanding soaking tub and dual vanity with makeup station divider.
